It is easy to conceal any strap by unpicking a section of the side seam, equal to the width of the strap, under the armpits of your tshirts, shirts or sweaters. Don't worry, nobody will ever notice the opening.
The place to begin unpicking the seam will vary depending upon where on the body the chest strap is worn. Measure or estimate the distance between the armpit and the strap. Unpick extra stitching to insert the strap easily.
target your top layer of clothing
Wearing a singlet or undershirt provides a layer between your skin and the chest strap. It also protects from chills and possible chest infections. Always unpick the outermost layer. In cold weather, you may only need to modify your jumper.
Fraying is not generally a problem so machine/hand neatening is not necessary, even after numerous launderings. Some tshirts have no side seams but if you engage a seamstress or tailor, they may machine neaten the raw edges.
NB This tip will be useful whether you use a standard wheelchair or one with a standing feature.
