The civil rights act was introduced by JFK, but due to his assassination, vice president Lyndon B. Johnson put it into action.
JFK was conflicted about creating the act at first, but eventually decided to write it.
More republicans were in favor of this act than democrats!
Signed into law on July 6, 1964.
What the act promised to do!
End segregation in public places.
Stop the hatred against race, color, religion, gender, or national origin.
Protect the voting rights of women,
Help everyone, not just African-Americans.
Prohibit injustice against minorities.
