Once a week for one month ask students to compose short works of poetry in response to teacher-supplied found objects, or photos of found objects.
Prompts to help students get started could include:
Photos should lack context and objects should be something out of the ordinary.
What is the object’s backstory?
Where might this object be found?
What does the object look, feel, smell, sound and taste like to you?
Write a persona poem in the voice of the object.
Stimulates imagination and encourages students to practice writing and thinking creatively about a variety of topics.
