These local elected officials represent citizens in governing their municipalities. These are not full-time positions; they involve evening meetings.
The # of signatures you need is 2% of the highest vote total for any one candidate in the last municipal election. Signers must be eligible to vote for you; they can be from any political party.
PA has 1,454 townships and 939 boroughs. All will hold municipal elections in 2019. Not all seats will be open.
Must have been resident in borough or township for at least a year
Must be registered as a Green 30 days before the primary
May not hold other elective office
Make policy decisions
Oversee provision of public services
Attend meetings at least twice a month
Be available to citizens
Annual salary is capped & ranges from $1875 - $5000
Terms: 6 years for township supervisor; 4 years for township commissioner & borough councillor
A brief campaign finance statement must be filed with the county even if no expenses are incurred. Expenses over $250 must be itemized and regularly reported.
Greens do not run in the April primary, only in the November general election.
