The school counseling department at Centerville strives to help students succeed in the areas of academic, career and social/emotional development. We achieve this by: ٠Assisting students in planning for the future by creating comprehensive academic plans, ٠Presenting information on postsecondary options and professions that match their interests, and ٠Fostering a safe and nurturing environment for students by allowing them to express themselves and modeling effective interpersonal skills.

ACADEMIC READINESS
Ms. Vera Valdez, our transition counselor, conducts groups with 8th graders who are identified as at-risk to aid in improving their grades by teaching study and organizational skills. Fifty-two students were selected based on their scores from 7th grade. The graph on the right indicates the decrease in the number of F's these students received.
SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL
School counselors offer support through individual sessions, conflict resolutions and yearly anti-bullying presentations and rallies. In turn, the graph below illustrates the decrease in defiance and disruption offenses.
