The Domestic Violence 40-Hour Training is the basic training for individuals working directly with those affected by domestic violence. The training provides participants with the movement’s philosophical and political framework and a solid foundation for supporting folks who experience violence.

About the Training
In order for confidential communication to be protected, Illinois state law - the Illinois Domestic Violence Act (IDVA) - requires that individuals working directly with victims of domestic violence have a minimum of 40 hours of domestic violence training.
Why 40 hours?
Completion of all 40-hours of this training course is the necessary first step toward becoming an Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional (ICDVP). Between Friends is an ICDVP approved training and supervision site. For more information, go to
