College & Career Readiness
In the 2016-2017 school year, 98% of 8th graders attended a college & career information session led by the school counselor.
The counselor ensures all students are taught how to calculate their GPA and what the A-G requirements are for high school as well as what colleges look for.
Students are shown multiple career paths they can take and how to gain job experiences beginning in high school.
Academic Development
The school counselor supports and maximizes all students' ability to learn as well as ensuring that all students have equitable access to education.
The school counselor, with the help of AVID students, conducts quarterly backpack clean-ups to promote organization and success!
The school counselor collaborates with teachers to promote student success within the classroom.
Social/Emotional Development
The school counselor hosts a 6th grade lunch bunch on Thursdays and a 7th/8th grade lunch bunch on Wednesdays to promote friendships, play games, and having fun!
An 8 week Girls Group is held every Tuesday during lunch for invited students. A pre/post test for the spring group showed that every girl in the group learned skills to regulate emotions, manage conflict, increase self-esteem, and be a good friend.
An all boys self-regulation group was held in the 2016-2017 school year. 100% of the members had less office referrals at the end of the group.
