Summer Reading BINGO
BINGO!
Motivates and rewards students for reading a variety of books.
WHY IT WORKS: Lots of opportunity to customize both bingo cards and reading lists for grade/reading level. Students may select their own books and there is a range of titles from which to choose when fulfilling individual square requirements.
MATERIALS: -Classroom/ library books or books from home -BINGO cards and pieces -Prizes -Sunshine

Prep Time: Low
Instructions: 1. Populate BINGO card and distribute to participating readers (game may be used as an optional reading incentive program). 2. Instruct students to write the title and author’s name in the corresponding square each time they read a book fulfilling one of the category requirements. 3. When the entire card has been filled out a parent or guardian should sign and the students may return it. 4. Each time the student completes a card he or she is awarded a prize and advanced to the next level. (See links below for detailed directions, explanation of levels and prize giving.)
