Practice of Peace

JUNE 23 - JULY 1, 2017

Harmony in the Hills is a youth driven intergenerational peace camp. Approximately 40 people of all ages participated in the week-long program at Oneida Baptist Institute in Clay County, Kentucky. Through storytelling and creative arts, the peace camp utilized the Story Bridge method to create a safe space for the youth to go into deep reflection, build social emotional capacity, and build peace and understanding in the community. At the end of the week, from their own true life stories, participants co-created a theatrical play with original music.

I have never felt more loved and appreciated than I have here. I just wanted to especially [say] that it is super hard for me to love people, and I love you. - Anonymous youth participant

I would highly recommend that others do [Story Bridge] at least once in their life. I've done it a total of three times now, and each time I learn something new.. I improved so much. Not only in acting, but in my social skills in general. I hope that they come again, because I know for a fact my name will be first on the sign up sheet. - Anonymous youth participant
