Principal's Message
Petaluma High School's comprehensive school counseling program utilizes a proactive and data-driven approach to deliver a wide variety of services to meet the needs of our students.

The counseling team provides the opportunity for students to reach their full potential by supporting social/emotional development, academic achievement, and career exploration.

Our kind, caring, and dedicated school counselors change students' lives and foster a positive and safe school climate.
David Stirrat
Personal-Social
We provide individual counseling, conflict mediation, crisis management, group counseling through Project Success and referrals to mental health services in the community. Our mission is to work closely with families and teachers to create a network of support for students.
The Petaluma High School Counseling Program abides by the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) Ethical Guidelines.
Academic
We help freshmen create an academic 4-year plan based on post-secondary objectives that help students navigate CSU and UC "A-G" and graduation requirements.  Individual conferences during sophomore, junior, and senior year support student success by helping them stay on track with goals. Parent education nights  provide information on academic courses, AP/Honors, college applications and financial aid.
Career
We collaborate with The College & Career Center to assist students with their college applications, explore career options, financial aid, work permits, and resume building. We also host 20-30 university representatives every year to promote interest and information regarding various colleges. School counselors facilitate a Career Day event by partnering with RoadTrip Nation.
