School Counseling Program Profile 2018

The entire Student Support Personnel Team (SSPT) of Jurupa Hills High School (JHHS) is a vital and integral part of the academic success, personal development, and safety of students at JHHS.

The SSPT provides a comprehensive program to all students and follows the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model, which I support.

We are committed to educating our students, and not giving up on them. We encourage and empower them towards changing their lives. This is who we are and what we do for our students to create a better future.
Lorraine Trollinger, Ed.D.
Academic & Career
With the hard work and dedication of our school counseling team, all students are able to learn about:
Graduation requirements
A-G requirements

4-year academic planning

Time management

Study skills

Organizational skills
Our team's core curriculum lessons targeted interventions that help contribute to overall graduation and higher education enrollment rates.
Academic & Career
The school counseling team created a senior seminar class where all seniors are able to learn about career readiness.

Sstudents are able to use Naviance, a computer-based guidance program.  It provides assessments that match students to potential careers based on their strengths and interests.

Students then create a customized postsecondary plan and begin their journey in applying to 2 and/or 4 year colleges.

Growth Mindset
After the attitude skills group, all 7  students demonstrated a growth mindset, and a positive change in attitude.
After participating in the attitude skills group, students with 3 or more F's decreased from 7 to 1.
The group counseling sessions focused on teaching students goal setting skills, study skills, motivational skills, communication skills, and more to help them navigate and excel in their education.
AOD Group
In the group counseling sessions, students learned about the affects of alcohol and other drugs (AOD) and making smart choices. The sessions provided students with positive alternatives to dealing with stress and setting academic goals.
Student Discipline Outcome Data
After participating in AOD group, students with disciplinary referrals decreased from 18 to 3
