Age Categories
Y10 (b. 2008-2011) Y12 (b. 2006-2009) Y14 (b. 2004-2007) Cadet (b. 2003-2006) Junior (b. 2000-2006) Senior (b. 2005 or earlier) Vets (b. 1979 or earlier)
Ages overlap, so your child typically can participate in several categories

Senior - the only age bracket that has skill based divisions: Div 1 (A, B, C) Div 2 (C, D, E, U) Div 3 (D, E, U) Div 1A (any rating)

Qualifying competitions award regional points to qualified fencers only if they live in the same Region where the competition was held. *Seniors are the exception: they can earn points from any region

Qualifying competitions award National Points to fencers depending their performance and category.

Youth National Points
- awarded to qualifying competitors in SYC's, NAC's, Junior Olympics and Summer Nationals
- awarded to qualifying competitors in NAC's, Junior Olympics and Designated International Competitions.

Y10, Y12, Y14
Cadet/Junior
Senior
I. Sum of best 3 RYC results during the season in your own region (separate for each weapon and age group you fenced) II. All regional fencers who competed in RYC’s in your region in same weapon and age group are sorted out by their regional points III. This list is the regional points list for that gender/age/weapon
Qualification via RYC (Regional Youth Circuit):
I. Sum of best 2 RJCC results  (separate for each weapon and age group you fenced) II. All regional fencers who competed in RJCC in your region in same weapon and age group are sorted out by their regional points III. This list is the regional points list for that gender/age/weapon
I. Sum of best 3 ROC results during the season anywhere in the country (separate for each weapon and Division you fenced) II. All fencers who competed in ROC in your weapon/division are sorted out into the same list III. This list is the regional points list for that gender/age/weapon
Qualification via RJCC (Regional Junior/Cadet Circuit):
for Division 1A and Division 2 - Qualification via ROC (Regional Open Circuit)

 Fencers compete for qualification in their requested age and weapon category. 
U.S Citizens living abroad can fence in one International Regional Circuit Competition held in China during the current season.  
Makes it easier for Chinese fencers who are US Citizens to compete at Fencing Summer Nationals
