PIT COUNT

Once every year, the Central Florida Commission on Homelessness (CFCH) organizes a count of every person experiencing homelessness on a single night.

This count is known as the Point-In-Time (PIT) Count. The PIT is used to allocate federal resources, understand local homelessness trends, and inform policy change.

While the count of sheltered persons in Transitional Housing has held steady, the count of persons in Emergency Shelter has varied greatly.  This has been  influenced by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Shelter capacities were reduced to help stop the spread of Covid-19 (2020 - 2021)

Covid relief funding has made resources and non-congregate shelter more available to the homeless population (2022)
