SUMMARY: The Library Program Pivots
Going forward, our collection emphasis will be on digital resources like databases and ebooks. Our data tells us that our students prefer using these to print. We are adding approximately 91,700 ebooks and 4,700 journals to our collection by subscribing to:
PREMIER (4,700 journals)
ABC-CLIO World History
This robust digital collection will satisfy the needs of students in all subjects. Subscriptions start in September 2015.
This decreases the print budget significantly. Print purchases will be more selective.
MID-HIGH SCHOOL EBOOKS
3,700 reference/nonfiction titles
MASS EBOOK COLLECTION
popular & academic e/audiobooks
We thoroughly weeded and inventoried the collection this year to make room for new books, decrease shelf space needed, and remove books that were no longer being used by students.
Weeded: 1,795 books
Size of collection now: 13,906 items
Size of collection next year, incuding new ebooks: 105,606 items
The library website is undergoing a redesign to make it easier to use.
The high school is getting a great quality 3D printer next year. It may be housed in the library, with Alida Hanson integrating it into the curriculum.
Students suggested and we responded:
We now lend computer chargers, phone chargers, and flash drives.
The Learning Commons renovation process is ongoing. The proposed changes need to be budgeted.
