Parents: Please email me with any questions and encourage your children to self-advocate. I am always here to help

You will be reading several novels throughout the year, both assigned and self-selected.  You will be required to get copies of several of these.  You may purchase them, borrow them, or bring in electronic copies.
How much homework will we have?
Every other week, you will have to respond to literature by writing a literary analysis. You will also complete a vocabulary unit every two weeks.  In addition, you should be reading at least 20 minutes each day.  You will be given advanced notice for projects and tests.  That's it - except studying!
Turn your work in on time. I will accept late work for partial credit, but I will not chase you down for it. Take care of your responsibilities.
What if I'm absent?
I put everything on my class website - on the calendar.  If you're absent or expect to be, please check there for notes, handouts, and project updates. (This is also a great trick when you lose something!)  If you are absent when something is due, I expect you to turn it in the next time I see you for class.
Do you accept late work?
Classroom Wish List
If you would like to donate one of the following items, we can always use them in our classroom:     Band-aids;     Construction paper;     HP ink cartridge           (61 black or color ink)     Individual wrapped candy;     Tape rolls for a dispenser;     AA or AAA batteries;     Cardstock;     Colored envelopes;
Students, during the year, there will be times when you are encouraged to choose your own books and topics for writing. Please use your best judgment.  As 7th and 8th graders, you know what is ok with you and your family. If certain topics make you uncomfortable, close the book. There are plenty of options! Please see me with any questions or concerns.
