What was the driving force behind the Industrial Revolution?
A new way of thinking was sweeping across Europe. The Enlightenment and Scientific Revolution changed how people problem solved in the 18th century. They began questioning how they were doing things, and testing new ways to do them better. The Industrial Revolution really got started in Europe first, but it wasn't Europe alone that drove the Industrial Revolution.

Grew only a few types of crops. Required more farmers. Required more livestock (animals). Produced less food. Made use of less land.

Learned how to rotate crop and use turnips to feed livestock during winter. Were able to produce more food because of year round crops. Required fewer farmers because of technology innovations. Rural population began to decrease as people moved to cities.
